Internet / Intranet Usage Policy


The internet/ intranet provides students with the opportunity to locate information and liaise with organisations or individuals to support learning and to increase their knowledge and skills in using electronic services. It serves as a major point of communication within our school.

  • To develop skills in critical, discriminate and effective internet usage
  • To develop skills in analysing, interpreting and evaluating information


All students from Years 3 to 6 have filtered internet and email access. They have a password protected internet account and log on.

Students in Prep to Year 2 have class access monitored by the teacher

This access comes with responsibility and all students are required to abide by the conditions set out in the Code of Practice which is signed by both the student and their parent.

A technology coordinator is appointed to manage the Sina system and maintain the school’s website

Staff have world wide web access are issued with an electronic mail and internet/ intranet policy and are made familiar with this workplace Code of Practice

Signed consent from parent and child is required to publish children’s work, photos and videos on the internet.

Privacy of students, parents and staff is recognised and respected

Teachers are responsible for screening for accuracy, appropriateness, grammar and spelling prior to publishing work for the internet/ intranet

The electronic school noticeboard and calendar are major communication points and need to be accessed by staff every day. Notices for the children can also be placed on the noticeboard.

The Myinternet page gives staff access to forms and documents that are placed on the intranet.
