Education in Faith
Enhancing Catholic Identity

St Peter’s Catholic Parish Primary School endeavours to serve and reach out to an increasingly diverse community.

Our Catholic education is founded on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ and invites every member of the school community to an encounter with Jesus.

Our school does this by creating rich opportunities for staff and students to engage in open and respectful dialogue with the Christian narrative and the Catholic tradition on the one hand, and a diversity of meanings, understandings and beliefs on the other. In this way students, staff and families are invited and challenged to deepen their understanding of themselves, others, the world and God, and develop their authentic selves.

We endeavour to serve and reach out to an increasingly diverse community. Our students today are immersed in a globalising world and they are exposed to many cultures, social contexts and beliefs through personal experience, the media and other religions and world views. This pluralisation of worldviews is a real context of life and of schooling today. In partnership with parents and the Parish, we need to respond to this.

In addressing the changing needs of our students, teachers, parents, parish and the community, we are challenged to reflect continuously on our Catholic identity, in particular the ways we articulate our identity and vision and express our distinctiveness as a Catholic community in society.

All people working in Catholic education need to have open and inclusive opportunities for continuing faith formation and the development of authentic selves. Authentic relationships are supported and strengthened, enhancing the way we relate to, and work with each other, and the way we support the school community.

We believe that the formation of your child’s faith life is a central pillar of our Catholic purpose. In addition to RE learning experiences we offer multiple opportunities for your child to develop their faith including:

  • Regular whole school mass attendance
  • Morning and afternoon prayer
  • Parent/Child Faith Workshops
  • Weekday mass attendance and involvement
  • Level Liturgies
  • Prayer Services
  • Whole School Christian Meditation

Having diverse opportunities for families and students ensures a variety experiences for all to engage in and deepen their own faith story.
