St Peter’s School Logo
The basic element of a coat of arms is the shield; many ancient coats of arms consist of nothing else, the shield is the most important part of a coat of arms. Inside this shield we can see the letters STP signifying Saint Peter and the word Epping indicating the location of the school. The colours gold and blue signifying: Gold: generosity and elevation of the mind, Blue: truth and loyalty.
Modern heraldry often adds a motto displayed on a ribbon, typically below the shield. A motto is a phrase or collection of words intended to describe the motivation or intention of the bearer of the coat of arms.
School Motto – “In Omnibus Glorificetur Deus”
This motto is in Latin and comes from the Good Samaritan Sisters who established St Peter’s School in 1934. It translates as “In all, the Glory of God” and is inspired by the scripture reference 1 Peter 4:11 “So that in all things God may be glorified”
