At St. Peter’s, we are very proud of the exemplary standard that our school has been acknowledged with regarding our STEM Teaching Program. Schools and universities from across Melbourne, (as well as inter-state), come to visit St. Peter’s, to observe and learn how to integrate the Sciences, Technologies, Engineering and Mathematics curriculum.
We have a purposeful MAKER-SPACE that is a flexible and large learning environment that enables our students the freedom to collaborate and to be creative, by exploring and experimenting with the many digital and unplugged technological resources that the school is well equipped with.
We embed our inquiries from the generalist classroom and extend the inquiries into the specialist STEM classes. This immersive connection with inquiry units enriches the learning experiences. We provoke our students to ‘Make a Difference’, fostering our catholic stance towards justice for the common good. We enable our flourishing learners to create solutions to real world issues using Problem-Based Learning practices that begin with empathy; identified by working through Design Thinking Models.
St. Peter’s fully embedded STEM program encourages experiences that empower learning possibilities to go beyond the classroom and extend out into the community.
